At last....

Where doesn the time go? I didn't realise that it had been over 2 months since I last updated my blog. I have decided that as one of my new years resolutions that I must start to keep it up to date even if it is only once a week.

Christmas was a nightmare for me as I managed to get chicken pox just before Christmas, so there are no photo's of spotty me on the special day. My Husband came down with flu on new years eve and now my daughter is off school with her share of chicken pox. We will soon be able to remove that black cross from our front door.

Given all this time at home, I have managed to do some card making. Here are some of the examples.

I had a fantastic day on Sunday when I attended a workshop at http://www.itscraftingtime.com/index.htm . The very talented Jennie from http://www.theartisticstamper.com/ ran the workshop where we attempted several different techniques to complete a gorgeous mirror frame. I learnt so much at the workshop and met some fantastic people. Here is my finished mirror.

Meadowlark

Yesterday was our annual village fete. This year was a very special year as Aimee was an attendant to Miss Meadowlark. This meant a beautiful dress, tiara and a ride in a horse and carriage. My pre-school won the junior float section with Oliver Twist and my Mum was on the winning adult float as the scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz.

I was asked by a friend to make a wedding card for her sister who is getting married in Jamaica next month. One stipulation was that there was the Jamaican flag on the card. Here is what I come up with.

I bought these elegant rectangles from Craftwork Cards on my recent trip to Ally Pally. They are so sweet when folded in half and make lovely little cards. I have decorated this using a message also from Craftwork Cards and a dress punched out using a Woodware punch, topped off with a dress peel off.

I had a great day shopping at Ally Pally on Sunday....spent quite a bit, but that's what it's all about. After hearing so many people talking about promarkers, I took the plunge and bought myself some. Why haven't I bought them sooner? They're fab!

I was out shopping last week and happened to be looking at cardmaking magazines and saw that Octobers edition of Cardmaking & Papercraft had a lovely set of Christmas stamps absolutely free with it. Of course it would have been rude to have left them on the shelf, so I had to buy it. These are 2 of the cards I have made with the cut little stamps.

As the weather has been so blustery today and the council have dug up the front road so you can't go anywhere, it's given me a big excuse to sit and craft. These 2 layouts are from our visit to Banham Zoo last moth for Aimee's 10th birthday. My layouts are usually quite simple but I think I've gone a bit overboard with the owl layout.

What a really bad blogger I've been. The time flies by so quickly. This week I made time for myself and spent the day doing some scrapbooking. I recently had the big 40 Birthday, so I've been attempting to make a small album of memories from this day. The theme of my party was black and white...my favourite colour being black of course. Almost everyone turned up colour coordinated and we had a fantastic night. Here are a few of the pages I have completed so far.

Yesterday was our annual village fayre. We have quite a large procession of floats from all the village groups, and I was once again on our pre-school float. The theme this year was 'go green' and our float was decorated as a refuse lorry for the recyclable goods. Hope you like the photos. Aimee took part in the local amateur dramatics group and was Maid Marion and the other piccie is of my Mum who took part on the Womens British Legion float and was a brown wheelie bin.

I can't believe it's been over a month since I last blogged! What have I been up to?

Firstly I had to make all my invites for my forthcoming 40th birthday party. My party is all black and white themed, everything, invites, decorations, clothes and even my cake and I'm really looking forward to it....let's hope life begins at 40.

Our village school had a ladies shopping evening, where I had a card stall which proved quite successful.

Aimee had another trip to A&E with a suspected broken thumb/wrist, but luckily the xray was clear, but resulted in her wearing a splint for a week, which put pay to her continuous handstands and back flips.

The only crafting that myself and Aimee have done, is to decorate a blank 7gypsies folder in preparation for a 'book of me'.

Aimee's photo frame

My daughter Aimee decided to do some crafting this week. She first took an old jigsaw piece which she painted with pink acylic paint. Used 2 butterfly peeloffs and coloured them in adding stickles for a bit of sparkle. She then added a photo of herself on her 1st birthday and a letter A, finishing off with a piece of ribbon to hang it.

I think it's a great piece.

Hooray.....I've crafted again. I don't where my mojo had gone but it turned up again whilst I was doing my housework. I have put my cricut to good use again today to cut out some lettering for some simple named cards, one for a Mum, I don't know whose though and one for Mr & Mrs that could be used for either wedding or anniversary I suppose. I have also made a 'man' card using a stamped image that I've watercoloured and a Nan card using elements of a Cosmo Cricket TSV that I bought a while ago but haven't used much of.

It was also my Husband's birthday today and I'm ashamed to say I bought a card.

We all work together at the local pre-school where we all wear the same uniform of red and black. It was such a surprise when we all turned up and were still wearing the same colours, black and white. We don't scrub up too bad.

On Sunday our Niece is getting christened and we have been asked to be Godparents. This is the card I have made for her, It's quite plain as I haven't got any suitable images to use. I have cut the name using my cricut and the crown is cut using my daughter's cuttlekids and I have added a pair of metal hand embellishments.

Recycling challenge

A friend from work asked me to make her a niece card and a cousin card for her niece who is turning 13. The challenge though was to make 2 completely different cards from a sheet of wrapping paper. I stared at that sheet of paper for ages and then these come along. I used a piece of wrapping paper as background paper for the niece card and the other, I decoupaged one of the images.

Here are some cards I've just made. For 2 of the cards I've used my light box again, and I am really pleased with the results. The another is made using a cute teddy bear stamp which I have watercoloured and mounted using shapes cut with my Cricut, and added a few flowers to finish off.

Using the free set of stamps from Cardmaking & papercraft magazine, here is a valentine card that I've made. I stamped the heart image twice and then embossed in sea foam white and layered the hearts. Added a rub on message and stamped the little flourish also from the same free set.

What a lot of snow we've had overnight. We had a sprinkling yesterday, but now have about 6 inches and it's still snowing. OH couldn't go to work as he works outside, my daughter's school is closed and I went into work this morning at 7.45 to ring around the parent's to say the playgroup has closed too. I have been experimenting further with my Cricut today, and have managed to use the end caps button succesfully, cutting out a worded tag. The stamped image is a beautiful design by Linda Luckin. Once again I am using all my old stash.

It's my Mum's Birthday on Thursday and this is the card I have made for her. She is shoe mad, so this rubber stamp was very appropriate. Stamped with black stazon and watercoloured. I have used ribbon and a curly thing-me-bob to embellish and the lettering is cut with my Cricut.

I've made 3 cards for friends and family who have 'big' birthdays approaching. I've cut the numbers using my trusty Cricut. My Hubby has told me that I'm not allowed to buy anything else (apart from glue and blank cards) until I have used up some of my many papers that I have, so I've made a start.

For a change I stamped this image using a clear embossing pad and then chalked with blue and green. I added a matching background paper, some eyelets and ribbon and finished with a peel off message.

They are 3 very different layouts from different years and are all of my daughter. The colours are not your traditional red and green Christmas colours, but rather a more modern twist.

At last I can unveil my new room

Here it is at long last my new craft room. I no longer have to craft standing up leaning on a piece of chipboard ontop of a cabin bed, and crawl underneath for my stash. I'm organised.......well nearly. I have a lovely new desk and units from Ikea to store my stash and then I have furniture with baskets full of stash. Only problem is my husband now knows just how much stuff I actualky have......oops.

After nearly 2 weeks of not being able to make a single card, I have at last managed to make a few. These are quite simple cards using some favourite stamps of mine at the moment from Lavinia stamps. I've made 2 variations of colour and added a little ribbon and a sqiggly metal clip thing.............very technical name I know.

I haven't blogged for so long now, I just haven't had much time or inspiration for crafting. So I'm blogging Halloween instead. I got my cooking head on again and made some spooky buns and scary jelly. We went around to a few friends houses for trick or treat and we've just come back from a Halloween trail around a local park. It was fantastic........rather scary but great. Lots of people dressed up ready to jump out at you, scary music and bats and skeletons hanging from trees, all accompanied by green lighting and lots of smoke effects.

Now I wouldn't say that I'm a big cook but yesterday I had a baking fest.....don't know what came over me. I thought I'd share my cakes with my friends, so here they are.....currant buns, chocolate cake and a pineapple upside cake. Hope you like them.

This weeks challenge is Trees & Leaves. I have made an atc for this challenge using one of my favourite house mouse stamps. I'm cheating a little because this atc I'm also using for the Anything Goes challenge on http://www.craftswap.co.uk/ which this fortnight is Autumn.

Using my new stash

I couldn't wait to use some of my new stash that I bought at the weekend, so here's what I made.

My friend's son celebrated his Birthday yesterday and I made hime this little train. I bought the blank wooden train a while ago for a £1........I love a bargain, and I covered it with a lovely train print paper and added a few wooden buttons to spell out his name.

Another purchase was a set of 3 unmounted stamps from http://www.laviniastamps.co.uk/ .I've been looking for a stamp like this for ages, and now I've got 3. I think they make a very elegant card.

Flower Festival

Last weekend our village church held it's annual flower festival. My Dad arranged several of the flower displays in the church, including a long garland suspended from the arch way and a beautiful flower arangment on behalf of the Royal British Legion. My Mum also arranged a display which included family photos of myself, Aimee and my Dad, along with a wedding photo of my grandparents.

Last but by no means least for today, a scrapbook page I have done of my daughter when she was two. At that age you only had to point a camera at her and this huge cheesy grin would appear.

The challenge this week is Blue, any shade of blue and the only other colour you can use is white. The card I have made is for my work colleague's son, who's Birthday is coming up shortly.
